with the styling of the Vision concept but the size of the current 6 sedan (and

I’ve said it before and said it again: Just put the darn manual transmission from the G70 in the Stinger GT and I’ll buy it.

Suburban with a manual. In fact, a Ford Expedition EL or whatever, with the old V10 and the 6-speed manual that could be had with that, back in the early 00's.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I used to drive a work truck with that setup quite a bit. F-350 regular cab, base model, with the V10 and a 6-speed manual. 30 years from now when one comes up on the contemporary equivalent of Bring a Trailer it’ll be hard to stop me from buying that unicorn. I suspect most of them were used like mine was: as a work truck that was beaten every day of its life, making them even more rare than they’d already be.

I’d like to see SUV complete the cycle back into sporty utility vehicles. The example of a starting and mid point that comes to mind is the MINI. Which currently has a larger body than early SUV.
Obviously this invokes the cry for brown turbo manual resistant to underbody damage.

I would also really want this but it would have to be starting over 40k minimum, no way I could afford it new. I'd settle for speed3, and I'm still upset we don't get the current 2, I'm looking at the iA as a cheap daily but I still want to import a real 2 hatch someday. I'd also just be happy with a sports car bigger than a Miata, like rx8 sized even if no rotary.

I’ve always be en curious what it would take for any manufacturer to produce the cheapest enthusiast car they can. Like <$12 k cheap .
It would have to be RWD, manual, 2 seater (1 seater maybe?) and very lightweight. But all the R+D goes into tuning it to be the most fun to drive driving experience .
N o A/C, no power anything, no radio.
No LED lighting, or extraneous exterior trim.
Could be off the shelf, headlights/ taillights, mirrors, wheels, brakes.
Cloth seats, minimally styled, cheap plastic dashboard.
Basic, off-the-shelf, ( but still tuned for fun) 4 cylinder e ngine/exhau st
I’m thinking something along the lines of the Polaris slingshot/Exocet, but more real car, less seasonal toy.

Only way would be for it to be a replica, so they could take advantage of that new law and not have to have all of the modern required safety tech.
Honestly, as manuals leave the major manufacturers, there may be more opportunity for small builders to take advantage of the remaining demand.
But a
t this price, most buyers will just buy an old Miata/86/other.

Miata, but awd. Weight would ideally be kept the same through the usage of lighter components, and less luxury features. Slight power bump, but still under 200hp.
Also, rwd manual hatchback. But like... Hot hatch. Basically a rwd GTI. Why is this not a thing?

Although, we're finally starting to get a bit better at the electric steering thing. I test drove a Kia stinger last week, and the electric steering wasn't bad. There was actually some feedback. Beyond the steering, it was a very good car. I came away impressed. The overall feeling of the car was familiar to my formed E39, but with more power.

This is only sort of related, but in the 1960s, one of the options you could order for a Dodge Coronet wagon was a Hemi. But no one ever did. Someone could’ve ordered an epic sleeper Hemi wagon from the factory, but nope, so none exist other than hot-rodded ones. But if someone had, that would be a dream car for me. As far as new cars go, I’ve thought for a long time that the perfect family car would be a manual hot hatch-ified minivan. Front-drive hot hatches aren’t too different from minivans from a mechanical perspective, so how hard could it be, right? The problem with minivans is that people think they’re uncool/boring/ugly, so they buy SUVs instead. I think the answer to getting more people to drive minivans is to just make cooler, more enjoyable minivans, so people won’t feel like they’re giving up on fun and coolness for buying one. Something like this:
But with the drivetrain and styling cues from this:
We need a Honda Odyssey Type R.

It’s made, but the US is frustrating with their towing laws. If Porsche North America would allow the Panamera to tow 4,400 lbs like they do in Europe I’d get a sport turismo GTS yesterday. I know they have different standards for speeds , but it is frustrating none the less. I’d get an aerovault trailer for a total combined for 3500lbs on an aerodynamic trailer.

As much as I love cars, there probably isn't anything that the automotive industry could have done/ could do to convince me to spend new car money on anything. There's just too much value in going used. I have come to peace with the idea as a used car buyer, automakers will not cater to my tastes. I love Miatas, and I hope to own an ND someday now that I've sold my NA, but there was literally nothing Mazda could have done to entice me to buy a new ND short of selling it new for $7,500.

I’ve been saying this for a little bit now, but a new Subaru Justy. Not just because I like Subarus and Justy was my nickname growing up, but I think it would be a new car that’d have me thinking seriously about picking it up (if specc’ed according to my hypothetical situation).
B Segment hatch, honda fit sized. But with AWD, maybe a 1.4l with 120hp, and a manual. Let’s say 2,600lb curb weight . Since this is my dream, they also make a 1.6l 210hp turbo hot hatch version. I suppose a hybrid version with a cvt makes sense for volume sales.
Considering that pretty much all b segment cars are no longer for sale here (
and even if it did it’d be CVT only),
this won’t ever happen.
I
f it did though,
I would totally be one of the 5 people to buy one.

I’m assuming my vehicle comes from GMC/Chevy as that is my biased preference, but if someone else can sling this combo together...
Minimums :
- Original S10 sized truck
- Proper 4wd arrangment (2
HI/4HI/4LO)
- Extended Cab/6 ' Box (I actually prefer 5' on the basis that once you’ve got a bed shorter than 8', the usefulness is about the same, but typically you’d never see an Ext/5' combo)
- Colorado-style tailgate cables to allow the hauling of 4'x8' material if needed
-
TOGGLE SWITCHES for traction control and stability control
- LTG 2.0T engine
- Paddle shift or similar—NOT the lazy +/- toggle button
- S waybars front and rear (Front only is typically the norm with pickups iirc)
- Supportive bucket seats - Sport cloth with leather bolsters
- A BUILT IN GARBAGE CAN. (Seriously, this is like the ultimate convenience. How is it not a thing yet. So often there’s not even a place for a garbage bag to hang. ) I suggest a continuation of the console out the back since the rear center seat would be pretty much useless anyway. Removable for dumping of course.
Would be nice:
- Crew Cab/5' Box
- Some sort
of adjustable ride height mechanism
- 5.3, 6.0 or 6.2V8 because funzies
- Manual trans
- Heavy-duty
swaybars front and rear with remote
electric quick-disconnect endlinks
...and probably a shitload of other stuff, but that’s the main things. Basically I’m looking for the ultimate miniature jack of all trades master of none vehicle.

Yeah, I know what I described is pretty close to an early Miata, haha.
I guess I’m thinking this could be bought new, with warranty not with 60k+miles on it, and still meet modern safety requirements.
Im just curious how muc they could save using existing components as possible from other vehicles (or just cutting features all together) and putting ALL the new mon ey towards tuning it to be fun to drive.
